Tottenham Hotspur are going to Bilbao

Despite our disastrous Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur are in the 2025 Europa League Final.

The last time we were in a European Cup final, I was so happy and felt so lucky that my team was in the final of the Champions League. At the time, no one thought we’d get as far as we did, and that added to my overall feelings going into the game against Liverpool. This time is different. This time, I feel we have everything to win this trophy. This final is where Tottenham ends their trophy drought. Manchester United are clear favourites. The negative media attention around Tottenham is continuing, with two ex-Manchester United players already saying they believe Tottenham will lose, but that’s expected. I wasn’t able to watch the game, but from what I gathered from highlights and post-match reviews, it was a very professional performance from Tottenham. They generally sat back quite a bit as Bodø/Glimt had 69% possession, but didn’t quite park the bus as we created more chances and we were more defensively sound and guess what? It worked, Ange got his tactics right, and we left Norway victorious, but like Ange said in the changing rooms after the game, the next two weeks are preparation for the final; every game, every training session is leading up to Bilbao.

I do want to talk about why this time feels different. Every season, the narrative around Tottenham is the same. They need top 4, they need to win a trophy, but they won’t accomplish either because they’re “spursy”. Even if we get top 4, the narrative is, “yeah, but Spurs need to be winning trophies”. Now that we’ve made it to the final this season, the media attention is on our league form, people saying “why can’t they do it in the Premier League”, this right here diminishes the accomplishment of making it to the Europa League Final. The mainstream media is so obsessed with letting everyone know the Premier League is the be-all/end-all. This time feels different because Tottenham are in its second season of a rebuild, with a lot of new players and coaches. There seems to be more belief around the players, coaches and organisation despite what’s been written about the club, I hate the media attention around Tottenham, not just this season but every season. There have been so many stories come out about the club this season, “Ange falling out with players”, “Ange to be replaced following the Europa League Final”, “Cuti to be sold next season”, it is so frustrating when fans believe everything they read from media outlets/journalists who have “close sources” to the club. The English media are notorious for printing fake news with no credible sources. Everyone seems to be together this season, and I believe that togetherness can get us that Europa League trophy.

We’ve come under so much adversity this season and if we can beat Manchester United in Bilbao, all the rival fans, media outlets, football pundits will not have a single leg to stand on because this Tottenham are different, we have a coach who will go to bat for this club and defend it for as long as he’s here, we have a team who are ready to lay everything on the line to get that trophy and dedicated fans who are behind this team, despite all those AngeOut muppets who’ve switched up because we’re in the final, I believe Tottenham Hotspur will change the narrative and re-write history, beat Manchester United and lift the 2025 UEFA Europa League trophy, you wanna why? Because it’s who we are mate. COYS.
