One foot in the Final for Tottenham Hotspur

If you asked me at the beginning of the season, “Would you take Tottenham having one of their worst seasons in the Premier League if it meant you could end the 17-year trophy drought?”, I probably would’ve said yes in a heartbeat. Well, guess what? That could become a reality.

Tottenham Hotspur 3 - Bodø/Glimt 1

We are officially 90 minutes away from a European Cup final. The last time that happened was in 2019, but I wasn’t as confident then as I am now. I mean, Tottenham could end their trophy drought with a European Cup. Winning the UEFA Europa League would mean the world to every Spurs fan, not just because we’d be ending our trophy drought, but because for years, we have been ridiculed, bantered, criticised and at the forefront of criticism amongst the top 6 clubs, especially with the season panning out the way it has. I think the club really needs this, and most of all, the fans need this. However, I hate seeing fans say, “Ange Postecoglou only has his job because Spurs are still in the Europa League” Okay, now acknowledge why we’re in the Semi-finals for the Europa League. ANGE POSTECOGLOU. People are quick to forget we got to two semi-finals this season. I’m not going to talk about our league form because I want to focus on the good.

We have a 2-goal cushion going to Norway, now obviously that’s what we love to see, but this is football, and we all know what can happen, anything. Everyone will be saying there’s no reason why we shouldn’t get to the final, but we need to get a result away in a semi-final, now mix that with the unnecessary pressure the media are pouring on Tottenham and our form in the Premier League. Tottenham are fighting an uphill battle. Don’t get me wrong, I think we should definitely win in Norway, but I’m not ignorant to the outside noise that affects our players. That being said, the team are more than capable of getting a result in Norway.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been put through the ringer this season, and I can tell you if it wasn’t hard enough already, telling people I’m a Spurs fan, it bloody is now. I still don’t understand why people get iffy when I tell them I support Tottenham, I’ve only met one person here in the UK who wasn’t weird about it. Funnily enough, it was on New Year’s, my partner and I were waiting for the tube, and this random guy saw my Tottenham beanie and dapped me up. So, it’s always refreshing to meet Tottenham fans because I feel like there’s a mutual understanding with each other, even if we don’t say anything to each other, we just know what’s up. I feel like only Spurs supporters can do that. That’s the kind of positivity I like, and it’s the kind of positivity we need going into the 2nd leg. We’re Tottenham, we can get the job done and rewrite the narrative. COYS.
