Tottenham Hotspur in 2026
I wish I could say things were looking up for Tottenham Hotspur in 2026, but it turns out they’re worse than we expected. We currently sit 14th, 9 points from relegation, and our fanbase is completely against our manager, Thomas Frank. Our captain is banned for 4 games, we have first-team injuries and have just lost to Manchester United. I really wanted things to work out for Thomas Frank, and I still do, but all the signs are leading to the inevitability that happens at Tottenham Hotspur, the dismissal of the manager. With the run of games we have coming up, I don’t see how he can survive it. I personally don’t think we’ll be relegated, but with all the energy going around about the club, it’s hard to see a light at the end of this tunnel. Let’s deep dive into the season so far.
After last season, we finished 17th in the Premier League but ended our 17-year wait for silverware by winning the UEFA Europa League. This was the chance to kick on and build off this momentous achievement. However, the start of the season became a rollercoaster ride. Ange Postecoglou was sacked, and Heung-min Son left the club; two prominent figures left and needed replacing. We replaced Ange with Thomas Frank, which at the time seemed like a great appointment, a seasoned Premier League coach with a tactically flexible coaching style that was needed at the club. What could go wrong, right? We did not replace Sonny, but looked like we were doing serious work by signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and even triggering the release clause of Morgan Gibbs-White; the latter didn’t work out, and we all know why. We then turned our attention to Eberechi Eze, who said yes to us until that lot from Woolwich arrived and snapped him up. But, we then signed a bright young talent in Xavi Simons, who is starting to show why we signed him. Come the end of the transfer window, it was decent, then the news that nearly all Spurs fans were hoping for got released: Daniel Levy has stepped down as Executive Chairman. I think everyone thought this was the turning point at the club; little did we know, things were about to get a whole lot worse.
Last season, we struggled a lot with injuries to the point where we had academy players like Will Lankshear and Mikey Moore filling in, and this season it hasn’t changed. We’re missing some of our most important players in Maddison, Kulusevski and Kudus, who would all start in this team. Their absences show a lack of creativity within the team, with all the burden placed on a brand-new player, Xavi Simons. We’re also missing key players in Bergvall, Spence, and Rodrigo, who help provide good rotation options. This injury problem that has plagued Tottenham in the last couple of seasons won’t seem to go away, and it is hindering the club's movement going forward. It’s the same problem Ange had, too, but his attacking style gave Spurs fans something to be excited about. With Frank’s style, I feel he is tweaking wherever it’s needed, and this unpredictability is what is losing fans.
After this latest loss, I feel the board are going to pull the trigger, not because he’s a bad coach but because the outside noise is deafening. I mean, when you have the majority of the fanbase openly criticising you, the CEO, the Sporting Director and the coach, the only decision is to let go of the latter. Which sucks and I hate that it has gotten to this point, but it seems like the only decision to make the fans content, because we all know the club can’t be sold. At the end of the day, they’ll do what they want to do because they make all the decisions for the club. I’m still personally on board with Frank because I’m always open to the bigger picture. We may not be able to see it or picture it, but there is something in the works, and I refuse to believe there isn’t. COYS.
