Call the season off

Two times in the space of a week. That’s how long it took for Tottenham’s trophy hopes to go from “Maybe we can” to “Call the season off”. The game against Liverpool was nothing short of a car crash, I touched on this in a TikTok but I had no problem losing to them if we fought to the end but we showed the lowest possible side of our team by giving up and accepting defeat and that is not who we are. I understand there are many problems at the club at the moment, I mean I’m one of the only writers pedalling them. We have injuries to about 11 first-team players, that is f*cked. Not to mention our current crop of players are seriously tired and on the verge of injuries so yeah those are pretty dire issues but the game against Liverpool was ridiculous. It was the first time since the Conte era that I turned the game off early because there was no fight in that game and we weren’t playing like the Tottenham of today.

The loss to Aston Villa is the cream before the cherry on top of the sh*t season sundae that we’re experiencing. I thought we could’ve got a result out of that game cause Villa were pretty lacklustre in that game but we lost it in important moments, highlighting other issues like needing a number 6 who can be a destroyer but also start the attack. The fallout after the Liverpool game was insane but the Villa loss just added more fuel to the fire. Thank god we have a week's break before our next game. For a bit of context, Tottenham haven’t had a break this long since October last year, so this is a much-needed rest for our players.

This has been a very different article and it has mostly been a rant but honestly, I feel depleted when thinking about the club I love, we’re in a very dark period and I don’t know when we’re going to be out of this but one thing I do know is that high or low I will never stop supporting Ange Postecoglou and this team because despite our many setbacks I still believe in this team.
