Spurs fight back to escape another loss
Tottenham fight back from being two goals down to rescue a point. Yes, you read that right, Tottenham still have a bit of fight in them.
The overall vibe around the club is very negative at the moment. After the result against AZ Alkmaar, I feel a lot of fans turned on Ange Postecoglou. It is sad to see to be honest but not at all surprising. The chairman/board has been called out all season, the players are taking shots, and now Ange is in the firing line even more than before. What happens when the manager is taking shots this late in the season? Everyone calls for him to be sacked and be replaced with an interim who may be able to grab a few points. That is what Spurs fans are being subjected to. It was the same fate as Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte and even Cristian Stellini. This is how it goes.
One. We’re filled with optimism and hope. Two. We need to win a trophy. Three. Results go up and down. Four. We start losing. Five. Everyone loses faith. And the sixth and final step is to sack the manager. We are approaching that sixth step now. So where does this leave me? I’ll tell you.
Personally, my stance has not changed. I’m ‘Ange in’ till he isn’t at the club. Call me crazy and delusional, but it is plain to see, regardless of how you see it, the club is definitely trying to change its approach on how they run the football side. Yes, results suggest otherwise, but the recruitment since the beginning of last year has changed dramatically. We’ve recruited a lot of first-team ready players, got rid of a lot of players too and we’re actually bringing in promising young talent. We’re planning for the future; we all knew this rebuild was going to be brutal, but the thing about a rebuild is that it takes time. I fully support the notion that there needs to be a balance in transfer strategy when buying for the future; you also need to bring in first-team ready players and that’s where I think we screwed up not bringing in a defensive-midfielder and left-sided defender. I refuse to believe that Ange Postecoglou is out of his depth and that he needs to be made an example of because of this season. Yes, he needs to be criticised for decisions made but he is learning, especially from last season. Look, we know Daniel Levy is not going away any time soon, I’ve accepted that, and I hope for the sake of this rebuild that Ange stays because we know how good we can be and I’m still a firm believer in that. However, football is an emotionally charged game because we, as fans, invest so much time, effort and money into this team and without us, this team would not be what it is today. But for the life of me, I do not want to contribute to all this negativity because that just requires too much energy and I’d rather contribute to this club by sharing my hope and faith.
If we lose to AZ Alkmaar this week, I know the fallout is going to be just as bad as when we got kicked out of the FA Cup, but like I said on Tik Tok, I will have hope we can turn this season around. COYS.
